Volunteer Opportunities Plentiful in Spirit Club

 Welcome to Balboa Magnet! As a Balboa parent, you are now part of our parent association, The Balboa Spirit Club. The BSC is excited to start the new school year, and we need you to be a parent volunteer this year.

Please plan on attending the Volunteer Fair on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 8:30 am in the Auditorium.

There are lots of ways for you to be involved in your child's education at Balboa:

• Be a Room Parent. Room Parents form a vital link between the teacher, BSC and parents. They recruit volunteers, help organize parties and teacher gifts, and keep parents informed of what's going on at Balboa. NOTE: All prospective Room Parents MUST attend the Room Parent and Volunteer Fair meeting.

• Fill one of our open BSC positions. We need people to  chair some of our programs and events. Click here to see the full list.
  
  
• Volunteer for Stop, Drop and Roll (carpool). We need extra help for the first weeks of school, before the schedule goes into effect.
  
  
• Donate time on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the Teacher Assistance Program (TAP) to help prepare teacher supplies.
  
  
• Take part in planning and staffing community events, such as Fall Picnic and Math Night.
  
  
• Help Balboa in its recycling efforts with the Green Team.
  
  
• Donate an hour of your time to help with the Book Fair this Spring.
  
  
• Join in on Gardening Days to keep our green spaces beautiful and weed-free.
  
  
• Help plan and put together the Yearbook.
  
  
• Volunteer at fundraising events like Fitness Day and Festival of the Arts.
  
  
• Help with the school-wide Art Show.

• Help get information out to parents and highlight great events at Balboa via the Beat or the website!
