What do  chairs do?
Chairs lead a committee focused on a specific task. The committee may be for planning an event (e.g. Festival of the Arts), completing a task (e.g. earthquake bags), fundraising (e.g. banner program), or supervising some other program through the BSC.

Am I qualified to be a chair? Do I have time to be a chair?
It is not strictly necessary to be an approved LAUSD volunteer to chair a committee unless the chair plans on supervising on school grounds during school hours (e.g. fitness day, earthquake bags).
There is some time commitment involved ,but chairs will have a lot of help with their various tasks, with aid coming from the committee and also the BSC Board members. Think of yourselves as event planners! You don't have to (and you shouldn't) do it all yourself.
Useful skills include creative thinking, planning and organization, and delegation.

What committees need chairs?
EVENTS:
Fitness Day (Feb 14)
Festival of the Arts (Mar 26)
  • We will need subcommittee chairs to work under the FOA Event Chair on different parts of the event (silent auction, art exhibit, etc.)
Earth Day/Week (April 17-22)

OTHER:
Banner Program

How can I get involved? Who can answer my questions?
Email us at balboacommunications@gmail.com and we will get you hooked up with the appropriate BSC board member for more info. Or fill out our chair interest form below!
